Montjuic

La montagne de Montjuïc, d'une altitude au sommet de 184,8 mètres, est un promontoire situé au sud-ouest de la ville de Barcelone qui surplombe le port et la vieille ville. Le nom signifie Colline des Juifs en catalan médiéval ; il s'agit peut-être d'une corruption du latin Mons Jovicus (Colline de Jupiter).

Depuis la Plaça Espanya, où vous pouvez voir les restes de l'ancien cynodrome, on peut monter la colline de Montjuïc où se trouve le Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (à droite) et la fontaine magique faite par Biugas en 1928, pour l'Exposition Universelle de 1929. Les spectacles son et lumière tous les weekends sont absolument fabuleux. Dirigez-vous vers la gare de Sants ; sur la Plaça de l'excorxador (l'abattoir) vous verrez la statue de Joan Miró Dona amb ocell al cap (femme avec un oiseau sur la tête).


La montée vers le MNAC n'est pas aussi facile qu'il n'y paraît. Sur la colline de Monjuïc vous trouverez aussi le Stade Olympique, le Palau Sant Jordi et la Fundació Miró. Sur l'esplanade Olympique, fierté de la ville depuis 1992, vous verrez l'anneau olympique. Puis vos pas vous mèneront certainement vers la Fondation Miró et le musée anthropologique. Il existe un point de vue depuis là haut impressionnant, et même un endroit sur la route d'où on peut voir les tours jumelles de la Villa Olímpica... à ceci près que par un hasard des angles, on n'en voit qu'une ! La colline de Montjuïc est à proscrire dès la nuit tombée car cet endroit très agréable le jour peut être dangereux la nuit.

Derrière la colline de Montjuïc le quartier de Miramar ressemble à Miami, ou plutôt de l'image qu'on peut se faire de Miami, il y a également un ancien parc d'attractions.
