La Sant Jordi 2011, à Barcelone

Le 23 avril, venez célébrer la fête des amoureux à Barcelone !

Equivalent catalan de la Saint Valentin, la Diada de Sant Jordi célèbre en réalité la mort du saint patron de Catalogne : le Saint Georges. D’après la légende, on raconte que Saint Georges, chevalier romain, aurait tué un dragon pour sauver de ses crocs une princesse issue du sud de Barcelone. Du sang du dragon jaillit un rosier duquel le chevalier cueillit la plus belle rose pour l’offrir à sa princesse.
Depuis le Moyen-Âge, ce joli geste de Saint Georges s'est perpétué et la Sant Jordi est devenue la journée la plus romantique de l’année en Catalogne. Ce jour-là, la tradition veut que les garçons offrent une rose à leur petite-amie et que les filles offrent en retour un livre à leur petit-ami. 
D'ailleurs, en vous promenant dans la ville, vous remarquerez vite que cette fête est présente partout et que les choses ne se font pas qu'à moitié à Barcelone ! En effet, vous pourrez profiter d’un grand marché de fleurs et de livres tout le long des fameuses Ramblas, spécialement transformées pour l’occasion. Et bien que la Saint-Jordi n'est pas un jour de congé, beaucoup de Barcelonais n'hésiteront pas à manquer les cours ou le travail pour flâner dans les rues et respirer le parfum de l'amour...

Enfin, par la même occasion, ce jour est devenu, sous l'égide de l'UNESCO, journée mondiale du livre et du droit d'auteur.
